It looks like there's a thread on TGO about a TX statewide gathering set to happen here in the Austin area. I think this would be freaking AWESOME!!!! Let's see how many people we can get to commit and update the TGO thread for better communication.

Here's the link for the TGO thread 2010 Texas Statewide Thirdgen Gathering.

Peeeeerfect. I will be there, with a new differential, LS1 radiator and an LS1 gas tank! Looks like I am finally getting active with the F-body stuff again, now that everything is holding up and being reliable.

I was thinking, giving that we have a good commitment, I could contact Thunderhill for that parade run that we couldn't do last year. What y'all think??? There is a race on the 19th and its not the Nascar sponsored event. Last year the owner said she was up to it as long as we planned ahead and it wasn't on the Nascar sponsored race.

ATGO could do Thunderhill, but I doubt the DFW/NTTGO guys would go that far south, just to drive around a small circle track. And since even the Houston guys wanted to come up the Toll Road & not go though Austin on I35 too much, I'm not sure there would be much Houston involvement either.

June 19th? So much for "not on a hot day". lol.gif
I should be able to make it. Granted, given that my Cheby starts. roflmao.gif

An idea:
There's a Settlement Lake Park nearby (2 miles east) where we could park afterwards and "camp out" with chairs and coolers for a while.
It is a public park, no admission fee or anything. Well, let me call it by its real name: "pond". It's a pond with a lawn.
The street along the pond can house 100 cars no problem so we shouldn't have trouble parking there even if the turnout is great.
Kids would have a place to run around, play with dogs, frisbees, planes, boats, whatever.
Just an idea.

Lou

Duke's in Georgetown was chosen to have the choice between indoor AC seating & outdoor heat. That & nobody has to cook.

Yeah, no objections to Rudy's! yum.gif
It will be pretty crowded, it always is on weekends.
I was suggesting the park option as an after-Rudy's location. I figure we might not fit into Rudy's if many people show up (which we don't know yet).
Like I said, it's just an idea, I'm not trying to move the gathering or anything, just trying to help.

I already put it on my calendar, I should be there, rain or shine.

Lou

Thats a good point Lou, Rudys is super packed on weekends, someone might want to contact them to see about reserving some space. But that would require a headcount...

Anybody got any ideas for cruises/anything, other than food?

Lime Creek Rod is always fun, if anyone wants to go that far. Sam Bass Rd in RR is kinda fun, just not as much as Lime Creek.

No drag strips close, other than Little River, whicgh isn't exactly close.

If the Sat. night gathering in RR at 620/I35 is gone.....Any other places?

Photo op location?

Other ideas?

It's official...I won't be able to make this gathering. My brother was not able to move the date of the annual Laporte family camp out (10 years running) in Vermont. I'm totally bummed as I was really looking forward to this. I am pretty sure though that the Formula will be there to represent somehow. sad.gif

Mark, it doesn't look like there would be a local problem here, it's far enough in the future that the exact date doesn't matter much yet.
However, what does the NTTGA club say? Is it okay with them that it's just one week after the cookout? Would they mind two big events on two consequtive weekends?
We're pretty flexible here.

Lou

thanks. I've asked the powers that be over at the NTTGA if they are going to have their regular meeting on the 2nd saturday of the month that month. If they don't we can move it to the 12th. If they do, and we have the state meet on the 26th, then they would have something THREE weekends in a row

It will al work out. Not sure which one i'm hoping for. The 12th is one day after I get back from vacation, and the 26th is the weekend I was planning on taking my wife to galveston for our anniversary
