Ok....

So here I am, months later, still pulling teeth to get the garage modification completed.  The problem lies in the fact that ATGO is currently using a "free, open source" content management system.  Meaning, there is noone being paid to support it.  Due to some recent problems over at the site that we do the coding for the garage mod, I have decided that I will no longer work towards or support the software ATGO is running on (Nuke-Evolution)

So that means we need to move to something else.  After looking around at what is available, I'm pretty sure I want to move us to "IPB", its the same forum software that AFB is currently using.  They have added a lot of really cool and useful features lately and its definitely worth purchasing now.  I had tried my best to stay away from Paid-For software for ATGO, just to keep my out of pocket as low as possible, but in all reality all the extra coding work is killing me.

So this is what I need from you guys....

How can ATGO come up with $160 for the new site software?  We are currently at ~75 bucks from our google ads (which is awesome that we are making this much), but I had planned on using the next $100 check from google to go towards more free member shirts.  Should I scrap the free shirt idea and put that 100 towards the software?  If so, where do we come up with the last 60?

I was hoping ATGO would get more advertisers, but unforunatly they have fallen through.  So far Mainstream Topics has donated 50 for their banner, and Halffastracing had donated 50 but never gave me a banner to put up.  Does anyone know a company or person that is looking to get their name out there?  I could work out an advertising deal to help us reach our goal assuming we can find enough people to pay for advertising.  Right now its 50 for a year, but maybe I could drop it to 30, meaning about $2.50 a month. Its pretty obvious we have the traffic and users who click advertisements they want to know more about using google adverts as evidence.

So in summery.....

ATGO needs new software, and the one I'm leaning towards is $160.  Is there anyway we can make ATGO support itself without me having to pay for this out of pocket?

Well, I've always been of the mind that, although the free shirts and stuff has been good, revenue should go towards maintaining the site, before freebies.

So yeah, I say ditch the freebie idea, and put that towards site maintenance.

I'm sure we have enough members here, that would be glad to kick in a few bucks.  The more people willing to donate, the less would be needed, for this round of maintenance.  Any extra donated would be money in the bank, for a next go around of a site issue.  I thihnk we should have a cushion in reserve, before any more freebies.  Say, a couple hundred bucks for a cushion, then after that, freebies if you want to.

Can't edit my post...

Where can we send donations?  I assume you have a Paypal, or we can just give cash, like on a monthly b'fast morning.

paypal is stevenk@austin.rr.com

I'm pretty sure I can move over just about everything.  If not, I'm sure I can duplicate the effect of the entire site pretty easily...

Plus it will be faster, and easier to use.

But the biggest part is the working garage system

I agree with Cranford completely. The site expenses come before freebies.

Donation sent.

Well at least we got to give out one round of shirts...

Plus I still have a few stickers left over from Cranford.

Now all we have to do is get our google ads to 100 bucks so they cut us another check, that takes about 1-2 months to get to me.

Time to do some FF installs ;-)

Just an update guys, adsense is up to $93.21, so almost there, just 7 more FF installs or a couple weeks of ad views/clicks

I have received 30 dollars worth of donations and I want to thank you all again.

So 7 bucks more adsense and 30 bucks more from donations (or my pocket) and I can start looking into moving us over to the new software

Adsense has hit 100 bucks, 4 FF installs today!

So now all we have to do is wait for the check to get processed (took about 2 months last time) and find another 30 bucks.  If I get the google check and still don't have the last 30 in donations I'll end up paying for it.

Thanks everyone for your support and helping the site

I'm sure you can guess where the last 4 FF installs came from today, eh? wink.gif

Ask Jessica. :thumbupwink:

You'll get $30 in 2 months...Don't take it outta your pocket, or at least, repay yourself.
