I was really wanting a top of the line 2400 watt Pyramid, or even better, maybe a 4000 watt Lanzar.   :eekdance:   I'm gonna PM you, Lou.  Check this out, when I was doing a quick google search for the highest advertised wattage, lowest price piece of garbage, I came across this explanation of why you need a capacitor.
If your lights dim with every drum beat, or your CD skips a beat, your amplifier may be trying to use more energy than the electrical system can supply. Unfortunately, your car battery is not thinking about the needs of your amplifier. Power is being robbed from your audio system by less important things like: the engine, air conditioner and lights. This leaves your amplifier hungry for power on those big deep bass notes.*

Damn pesky ac, lights, and engine.

Actually I was thinking about something like here.  Then I could get the 4000 watt Lanzar to power my 34" Audiobahn woofer!  But I just wouldn't look quite as cool as this guy in his........ euro-gremlin.

If its not enough for him, I might want it.

Wait, I reallly need to get my car on the road, inspected and road tested before I start worring about audio gear again.

Its gonna be fun building my new system

Steven, actually I'd be happy with just 50 watts RMS per channel.  I just took my Alpine down to see if it can be repaired, so hopefully in a couple of days I'll know a little more on where I stand with my amp.  I'm fairly confident that they will charge me the inspection fee and then tell me it can't be fixed. :lolbash:

As far as my amp goes, I haven't heard back from the repair shop.  I guess all projects may be on hold for awhile since I have to replace all the electronics in my house that were stolen.  That could be a long time. :uzi:

someone walked in my apartment this morning at 2. Too bad for them I was awake. Scared the shit out of me. And them. Seeing a 300 lb man running at you with a gun. I don't run as fast as I used to he got away. Sheriff said they will keep an eye out for him. Can't even identify him.

yeah you say that. But things are different when it really happens to you. I panicked. Plus think about it. With the way travis county is I would be in jail for a number of things all of which would have been justified when it went to court. I can't wait until I move. The new house has an alarm.

Damn dude, how does that make you feel?  That's gotta be the worst.  I don't feel safe knowing someone came in my house when I wasn't here.  How did he get in, anyway?  I, too say I would've shot him, but like you said, you never know until you're in that situation.  Plus, if it happens that fast and you can't identify him as a friend or thief, then I'd be hesitant to shoot, also.  It's not like he probably hung around long enough for you to make a positive decision to shoot him or not.
Glad to hear you're alright.  It should be possible to set up your (new) alarm so that you can arm it while you are home, but it disables the motion sensors, while leaving all other 'zones' active.  A good deal for nighttime when you go to sleep so the doors are still active and any glass break sensors are active, too.

Catching a thief (or any other crook) in the act is no fun. I mean, it would be ... if you had a gun and no laws against you. I'd enjoy every second of it. I'd torture that piece of shit to death. Cuz if you can't get a job and be an honest person, you don't deserve to live, in my book.

But we have laws that protect thieves and criminals and that sucks ass. So Bert, I knew you couldn't shoot him when I was asking, it was just an involuntary reaction on my side. smile.gif

I can't imagine being robbed in my own house. I'd have to beat the crap out of that crook. Then probably kill him and before I call the cops, I'd put a gun in his hand. smile.gif Justified self defense.

I am a mellow person .... but touch my wife or my property and be ready to die! :devilfinger:

Finally got it installed.... and it took fooooooreeever.  It was kind of a pain in the butt to install since I had to run an amp since it is preamp output only.  But what really chapped my hide was that the tabs on the docking sled that  hold that sleeve in were backwards.  They are configured so that the sleeve/sled will pull out, but not go in.  Kind of odd since you want the sleeve to stay in the dash, not come out, so I had to drill holes, put screws to hold the sleeve in, and then grind the screws down with a dremel so the stereo would go in the sleeve.  It works great, but the biggest drawback is that the screen is practically unreadable in sunlight.  I like that it has a 'normalize' funtion to make the mp3s approximately the same sound level.  I also like the speaker delay that I have missed since my good Alpine got stolen.  I got a Punch 160 4channel amp.  It's only rated at 20 watts per channel in 4 ohm, but it seems to do well enough.  Another think I noticed about it is that since it was made it England, the volume knob is on the right side, unlike the Alpines I've owned that have been on the left.
