Its gonna be messy at first, but I think you guys will like what I have in plan.

Right now the forums are locked down while I set things up. Please check back later.

Ok, I've got a lot of the basics done so I am opening the forum.

I've still got a lot of stuff to do, but work is kicking my ass today, and I can't remotely log in to my computer.

List of to dos:

Add smileys
Post people's avatars so they can re-add them or add them myself
More skinning to make the site look better.
Move all the custom content back over
Figure out how to get Gallery to run in IPB
Install the Garage Mod (not sure if I am going to be able to move the data over, the old garage beta is not anything like the one for IPB)
And much much more I'm sure.

Go ahead and take a look around, report back here if you are running into problems.

Hope you guys like the new site.

Hope you guys like the new site.

I hit reply but got a quote anyway... bug?

I like the looks. Was this disaster related or a choice for change?

Are we still hosted with dreamhost?

Same thing here.

Anyway, can you add the Install Firefox banner? I install one every day now.

I'm not sure about the reply quoting people, I'll have to look at that.

The upgrade is because I could no longer spend the many many many hours it took to keep up with the old software (nuke-evolution), and the inability to get the garage to work correctly. IP.Board has a really nice Garage system already done, and the actual forum software is far far superior than what we had before.

The tough part is just gonna be to get everything set back up the way it was, I have a bit of learning to do....

-Steven

EDIT:

Use the "Add Reply" button at the far bottom of the thread. If you use the reply button under a post, it quotes them.

EDIT again:

The reply under post has the " on it, which shows you it will quote. The quote button has a +, which means you can push multiples of those, and when you hit reply at the bottom you will have multiple quotes to reply to. Make sense?

Makes sense on the quotes. Thx.

Two issues:

#1 - Can you put up the link to the Firefox Install thing?

#2 - Will the old links like http://www.austinthirdgen.org/modules.php?...page&pid=22 work? Because I posted that link and others all over TGO for wiring diagrams and such and if we break them at this point, all the electrical advice I've given in the past two years will be worthless. sad.gif

Actually, issue #3:
could we move/add the Preview/AddReply buttons back where they used to be - right under the reply text box?

1 and 3 are theme issues....anything can be done. I will re-add the google/firefox ads, its just wasn't high on the list of to-dos.

2, well in short, no. The way this system and the old system map the "content" pages is going to be different. However, we can use a redirect maybe, I'll look into that.

I didn't receive a reply notification this time, for some reason.
Can you look into that too?

Thx

Email notification recieved.

For everyone else, that wants to use the email system to notify of replies.

in your "My Controls" you can go to email options on the left, and you can set it to default track them or the options drop down at the top of the thread if you only want to watch one.

I've got (most) of the smileys up. I deleted a bunch cause they were either never used, or stupid (imho)

I've also editing the posting screen to allow more smiles to show, click show all at the top to see them all.

Some of the codes have changed cause I didn't remember them all, or the file names were something weird. It shouldn't take long to get use to these, as the names make a lot of sense...if you ask me.

I got all the tech articles up and the other content pages like the RPO Decoder, History, etc.

You can get to them from the Home page in the navigation block.
