Any good recommendations for interior work?  I am looking to have the headliner, sail panels and visors re-done as well as some minor mechanical work.

Thanks

I got a good recommendation on Dealer's Choice Upholstery,

Dealer's Choice Upholstery

I might be checking a guy in Round Rock, who works from home, and says he's been doing upholstery for 18yrs.  His pics look good, but I have yet to see his work in person.  Johnpossum1@aol.com

Thanks for the information.  Have you seen or had a any work done by Dealer's Choice Upholstery?  Also let me know what you find out about the guy in Round Rock.

I'm a little gun shy, as I had some work done by a company down in South Austin (Top of the Line Auto Trim) and they really butchered the job  :eeek:   , so I am a little more cautious these days.  I would prefer to know that one of the club members has had work done, or they personally know of work done and were very satisfied with the job done.

ATGO thread is where I heard about Dealer's choice.

I still hafta get my new seats, before I talk to the guy in Round Rock about his work.  I found him through a 'net ad, so I know NOTHING about his work, or know anybody who has had work done by him.  After buying the seats, not real sure I can afford to have work done to them.  They are in great shape, I just want them changed a little.

Zimmstoy had some leather seats done somewhere, I forget. Looked nice. Wish I had had the money to have bought them. Maybe he will chime in.

Did you have just the seats done?  Any interior work?  Did you see any other work that they may have done?  Reasonable in price?

Sorry lots of questions, just want to get it right the second time around.

Well...I can't recommend the RR guy.

He quoted me a max price of $500, front and rear, even with foam and any spring/frame work, looking at pics I provided.

When he acrually saw them, it went to $359 for just the fronts, and $150 for the rears.  Granted, that only equates to the $500 max quote.

But there is NO foam or frame/spring work needed in any of the seats.

He said he saves customers money, by working from home by not having to pay for retail space.  And he has plenty of work.  No in-progress seats the day I went by... Yet, I keep seeing him "advertise" on craigslist (I know what ya'll are gonna say about craigslist...), and Dealer's Choice, a retail shop on Burnet Rd., quoted me about the same price.

It doesn't really matter for me right now...I didn't realize insurance is due next month, so I gotta save my money for that.

Anyone know of a good machine shop in San Antonio? I need a couple of blocks boiled and bored. My dad used one here somewhere but he died last year and I don't remember the name. Thank you.

If you need some tires and are in North Austin, you can try calling Eric at the Discount Tire store on 1431 (by Cedar Park).

Discount Tire
2720 E. Whitestone Blvd
Cedar Park, TX 78613
(On 1431 in the parking lot of Home Depot)

259-4966

Tell Eric that you have an F-body.

Lou

they did really good work. The price depended on the vehicle. I used to use them a lot when I was selling cars. I would reccomend them to anyone.

I just had my front end alignment done (and didn't see this in here already):

Gary
Brake Check #411
1802 Kenney Fort Trail
Round Rock, TX 78664
(512) 388-1107

For $109, Brake Check gives a "lifetime" alignment, which allows you to have the alignment adjusted every 6 months for a fee of $2. There is a one-time adjustment for $59, but I opted for the other since I plan to replace other front-end components as well, and being able to have the alignment adjusted any time after six months would pay for itself pretty quickly. I dropped the car off, went to lunch, and it was done when I returned. They are also a KYB installer, for anyone interested who does not have the facilities or desire to do it him / herself.

P.S. If you haven't had an alignment done in a long time and want to know where you stand, their alignment checks are free.

A great general Automotive repair shop is John and Corkys Auto Specialist or JC Auto spec for short.

Located in Round Rock right off I35 Open M-F 7:30am-6pm (512) 472-4977

The owner is a friend of mine from back in High school days. His name is John Long. Those of you that know me know I am a picky SOB when it comes to cars and this is the shop I send my mom to for work on her car that I do not want to do. He is trustworthy.

Just give them a call, Ask for John and tell him Yancy sent you. He will take good care of you.

I needed a state inspection on my truck and the grease monkeys at the once-great shop down the street failed me for no good reason (they can't read the inspection criteria from DPS).

So I went to this place on Burnet Rd.
It is just one light south of Anderson Lane, it's on the southwest corner of the intersection. A yellow L-shaped building.
If I'm not mistaken, it's called Broz Automotive.
It is run by two older gentlemen, very nice guys, btw. They passed me with no hassle and they even knew how to drive a stick and in a diesel! smile.gif
And the place was empty when I went, no customers, no wait. But that's probably because it was COLD and rainy outside. *shudder*

Lou
