Low production, rare combination 92 Firebird Formula (my estimate of 25 built like this), w/ WS6 pkg. including rear disk, T-5 world class 5 speed, 305 TPI, T-Tops, Jamaica yellow w/black cloth interior.
Car has 156k miles, motor is not original, been upgraded to 350 TPI with 20k miles on stock rebuilt (have no proof) other mods – new paint 3 yrs ago (chrome yellow) 3” cowl hood (fiberglass-harwood), 92 front bumper replaced with 90 front bumper, rear end gears changed to 4.10’s, short throw shifter, 2” lowering springs, aftermarket stereo w/amp + 12” Kickers, high volume oil pump, 4th Gen Formula 350 decal kit, ARC steering wheel. Has had recent battery, alternator, and O2 senor. Comes with new KYB shocks & struts, original steering wheel w/airbag, stock coil springs, total of 6 GTA wheels 2 rears and 4 fronts (mounted), Eldebrock strut tower brace not installed. Needs – my new oil pan has crack and leaks slightly, 3rd to 4th gear synchro is bad but slow easy shift produces no grinding, driver door hangs a bit but closes fine, A/C compressor leaks, could use a tune up, slow drain on battery from ? I searched 4 years and went thru 3 T/A’s before finding this one. This is pretty much what I’ve always wanted but now I can’t afford it. I’ve got a 16 yr. old and my insurance just went sky high. Will sell or trade down for a 3rd Gen (82-84) so that I can get classic, antique car insurance (much cheaper). I’m asking $5,600 or trade. Changing price on 5-25-09 to $4900 My name is Albani – Call (512) 431 2476 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You can't just list a 16 yr old as a non-driver on that car? You get penalized, just because of a kids age, regardless of their driving THAT car status?
But I'll confirm, that the tranny DOES shift good on that car, despite ME even driving it (with a bad clutch pedal leg)! -------------------- |

Yes I can vouch for the tranny as well. At the last breakfast meet and at a previous one before I'v been in it. Its still perfectly drivable. and Quite fast!!!!!!

I just replaced the picture links on my ad to regular pictures. It makes the ad stand out better.
I've also got it on Craigslist (Austin, Dallas, Houston, & San Antonio), Austin-f-body, & TGO. The plan was - sell then buy older to qualify for classic car insurance. Well, I finally sat down to figure the savings and it ain't much. With 3 drivers (one is 16) and 4 cars, the Formula cost $326 a year (liability only). Classic car insurance cost me $185 a year (full coverage) on my 83 T/A. So looks like I can save $141 a year, have stricter insurance rules to follow, and probably end up with something less fun. Still for sale (probably won't see a price drop for a while). -------------------- ![]() |

Is it still the original Jamaica Yellow, or is that a different yellow? It does not look like the factory yellow to me, but it may be my monitor...
Thanks John |

Actually, the Formula is now Ford chrome yellow, but the engine bay and door jambs are still the original Jamaica yellow.
My first looker came by thursday night for a test drive. 17 year old looking for his 1st car. The kid loved it but the father felt is was to powerful. I sure hope the kids good at changing his dads mind. -------------------- ![]() |

I sure hope the kids good at changing his dads mind. Have you considered looking around at different insurance companies? The car is beautiful, I would cry if I had to get rid of one of my cars because of my kids... I think I will put my kids to work to pay for the difference they are making me pay... What I end up doing is part of the year I actually do not drive my car, so I put "Storage insurance" on it. Basically it is Fire, theft, and glass breakage, there is no PLPD or collision so if I were to drive it, basically I have no insurance if anything were to happen on the road. In the end it only costs me $20 a month to have storage insurance on the car. For such a nice car I would wait until I kicked my kids out of the house in a few years and try to keep her... John |

I've had Farmers insurance for 27 years now. I've shopped around many times but Farmers is always cheaper or only a few bucks more. My agent is cool and he treats me good. Anybody looking for a good agent should look him up. He is Ray Garner Insurance @ Braker near I-35.
I've got this addiction of buying & selling cars. It has put a strain on both of my marriages. I've now had 61 cars since I started at age 12. That number would be much greater if I didn't have a better half to limit me. So yeah, Insurance cost is one reason to look for something else, but mainly I need to satisfy my addiction. No doubt, this is my best third gen ever (this is my 5th) and thank-you everyone for the compliments, but I'm ready to try something else. Hopefully another third gen cause I enjoy being a member of ATGO. -------------------- ![]() |

Here is an example of what I would buy sight unseen and travel to Georgia to get if I were to sell my Formula today.

I still question an insurance companies ability to raise your rate, based simply on a 16 yr old boy in the house.
Even if he is a licensed driver, that doesn't mean he'll be driving THAT car. Can he just be listed as a non-driver? In other words...He's covered on other cars, but not while driving THAT (the yellow one) car? -------------------- |

Yeah, I wish the insurance companies would believe me when my hot rod is off limits to everyone in my family (for starters, nobody else can drive a stick), but they don't think that way and it's a great excuse to raise the rates.
When you apply for antique - classic car insurance, they trust you to not allow anyone to drive your pride and joy, so additional drivers never comes up. Your limited on your driving, but you get great coverage at a great price. -------------------- ![]() |

I've seen your kit car on craigslist. It's an awesome car but not really what I'm looking for. Thanks for the offer.

Don't forget....You can have the personalized license plate (that you just got) transferred to another car/truck you own.
That way you aren't out the $40 for nothing. -------------------- |

And that extra fee for those plates is not a one time fee, but an annual fee on top of the regular fee for plates.
In a year or two when I get tired of paying, they will retire to my garage wall. -------------------- ![]() |

And that is why I don't have personalized plates. If they made it a 1-time extra fee, for having them made....I'd have them already. -------------------- |

I would possibly be willing to trade my 1988 Firebird - V6/2.8 - 60k Original Miles (Can prove) - in all original (exept for shift nob, still have original in box), for your car depending on how bad along the 3rd-4th issue is getting.
I really want to back into a V8, but don't really want to bucher this 1988 since it's in really good shape, original stock, and only 60k original miles.. Just couldn't see putting it under the knife.. -------------------- 1988 Firebird - 60k Original Miles - Manual 5-Speed - All Original
Hmm, should I ... Keep it Stock?... put in 327?... Trade for another motorcycle?.... |
